Trump Issues Unprecedented Number of Pardons

President Trump has issued an unprecedented number of pardons and commutations since returning to office, wiping out prison sentences and hundreds of millions of dollars in fines and compensation meant to go to crime victims. In June 2026, Trump issued a full, complete, and unconditional pardon to former Republican Indiana Representative Stephen Buyer, who was convicted of insider trading. Others blessed by Trump's benevolence include: Crypto billionaire money launderer Changpeng Zhao; dark web drug magnate Ross Ulbricht; and billion-dollar Ponzi schemer David Gentile, who served less than two weeks of seven-year prison sentence and was saved from forfeiting more than $15.5 million to the government.
